I was rescued one late evening on the streets of Queens, scrummaging for food after being hit by a car.
Being such a food enthusiast, I was coaxed right into a carrier with treats. That evening under a yellow full moon, you could see my glowing moonlight eyes; so, it’s befitting that I was named Luna.
I quickly bonded and helped in showing rescue Cleo the ropes; we were once employed, but fired for not sitting on our employer’s lap. Since then, we have recovered and continue to work to restore our sense of security.
I am individualistic and have grown to appreciate being cradle held, but then I will politely vocalize enough. But don’t forget to scratch my cheeks or chin daily to see me smile, and I will even roll on my back for those belly kisses and hugs.
I am 1,000% treat driven and never timid to vocalize when its snack time, so no need for an alarm clock; I have no interest in laser pointers, just feather and mouse wands.
I enjoy relaxing on the window perch or hammock nearby, while cackling at birds and squirrels as a favorite pastime.
Also, I have a lot of fun climbing and strutting the many cat walks, where you will catch me often entertaining myself.
A warm heater nearby or heated bed, I find especially comforting.
Did you know we are able to see things that are invisible to your human eye, due to our ability to see UV light?! So, don’t be surprised if I exhibit unusual vocalizations like chirping, meowing or purring, while transfixed and happily interacting with empty space.
Although I am not a lap cat, that doesn't mean I won't enjoy being nearby or approaching you for bum rub downs and tons of kisses.
And I would prefer a position alongside my companion Cleo, but it’s important you don’t favor her over me, in order to maintain a healthy balance and avoid Cleo' dominance triggers.
Being independent by nature, the key to success lies in a progressive approach and in respecting my boundaries. The approach should be gentle and gradual; please don’t grab me or force me to sit on your lap as that could make me feel trapped and on the defensive.
Patience in allowing me to adapt to a new environment, by sitting on the floor at my height, where I can see you, will make you less intimidating, and more susceptible to making a love connection.
You must keep a vigil eye of entry/exit doors because I am not afraid to try and go for a walk on my own when you come home, so you must watch doors at the opening and closing!
